“Seven” Short Film Screening

I’ve written a few posts on here about a short film that I wrote and directed a while ago.  Father’s Day I had screening for cast and crew of the short film in Hyde Park.  Everyone brought friends and family so we had a packed house!

I even screened a second shorter comedy film that I shot years ago that I recently had re-edited.  So we had a double header.  The comedy short is called Johnny’s Problems and it’s already up on my YouTube Channel.  You can check it out below.

The other short film, Seven, is a sci-fi short film that I still have some more blog posts left to about.  Thankfully in attendance was my sister the photographer, so we got photos to commemorate the occasion.  More photos are up on the Lavallais Pictures Facebook Page.

I found a screening room on Peerspace.  I figured I wouldn’t need that much space because it was a private screening and it was short notice.  I underestimated how excited my cast and crew was to see the film and the space filled up quickly, even with the event being on a holiday.

And I really didn’t mean to schedule the screening on Father’s Day, I just wasn’t thinking when I picked that weekend and then Saturday was already booked so I went with Sunday.

Here I am with my Casting Directing and Associate Producer Donna Watts.  She was an invaluable help on Seven and I couldn’t have gotten it done without her.  She’s also my fellow Columbia College Chicago alum.

My nephew, Tyler, and my other sister, Monica. Tyler’s mother is the photographer and both of his parents made the food for the event.  My sister Monica is supporting me by wearing a Dream Like a Unicorn shirt, bought from my other website www.thefairyprincess.net.

Some of my cast during the Q&A session after we viewed the film.  The audience really enjoyed the film and there were a lot of questions and comments regarding the film and what was next for the cast and filmmakers.

What’s next for me is directing a feature.  I have already written the script, I’m currently working on re-writes.  Will keep you posted on next steps in regards to my feature.  Stay tuned!

My niece Evonne and her cousin Thomas who was also one of my actors.  He was in my infamous fight scene.

My leading lady, Amariss, and I.

Seven is being entered into film festivals and I will keep you posted on that as well.
